Brett Cohen is a Principal Consultant with The Green House, a sustainability strategy and research consultancy based in South Africa, and holds a part time research and teaching position in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. He has an undergraduate and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. He has worked on a wide variety of sustainability orientated projects, in both academia and in the private sector. Commercial work has focussed on climate change mitigation and strategy for industry and government, while academic work relates to development of decision support frameworks, tools and modelling paradigms for supporting complex decision-making in the context of sustainability across the energy, minerals and water sectors.
Brett is an experienced facilitator, having facilitated multi criteria decision analysis workshops for various decision scenarios including biofuels policy setting (UK), development of Quality of Life indicators to support budget allocation for the National Metrology System (UK), minerals processing project prioritisation (Australia) and development of waste management plans (Lesotho).
